Living and loving like jesus

In 2026, we’re excited to expand our reach and strengthen partnerships through our year-end Season of Impact! Our missions strategy includes five priorities: Developing Churches, Developing Church Leaders, Unleashing Compassion in Our Community, Advancing the Gospel through Strategic Partnerships, and Mobilizing Calvary to Serve Beyond Our Walls.

While each of these priorities matters, this year we are especially deepening our investment in Developing Church Leaders and Unleashing Compassion in Our Community through the Impact Fund. By equipping leaders to shepherd churches well and extending Christ’s love in tangible ways across our city, we are building a Kingdom impact that will last far beyond this season.

When we give together, we make a difference. Reaching our $481,000 goal will fund the ministry and initiatives that move our mission forward.

Develop Church Leaders

All churches need strong leaders who both know about God’s Word and can effectively communicate it to people. There’s a lot that goes into leading each church, so we support and facilitate programs that help people learn how to be great church leaders! Over the past 20 years, Calvary has not only equipped each of us as we give of our time and abilities, but we have also worked alongside of others to develop the next level of church leaders. We’re working alongside of accredited colleges and universities to make courses and residencies available to those both early on in life, and those looking to pursue ministry as a second career.

The Calvary Leadership Institute

We have a vision to place 25 church leaders in vocational ministry over the next five years, and we already have more than 66 individuals in the pipeline. In 2025, we hosted five year-long residents and five summer interns, all of whom were moving toward full-time ministry. We plan to welcome ten more students in 2026 as we continue developing the next generation of church leaders.

Student Calvary Leadership Institute

New in 2026 is the Student Leadership Institute. SCLI is an opportunity for the church to help high school students develop leadership and character skills while gaining experience as they explore their calling and grow as servant leaders who live and love like Jesus. We have 12 high school students planning to be a part of this ministry in 2026.

Christian Student Fellowship

Christian Student Fellowship (CSF) has been raising up the next generation of church leaders for more than 50 years, and today that mission continues through their Camp Team Program. Each summer, teams of college students travel to high school camps across our region, leading small groups, baptizing students, and casting vision for how God can use young people in His Kingdom. Many of these college students go on to serve in full-time ministry or lead in their local churches, while countless high school students trace their call to ministry back to CSF’s influence at camp. Through the Impact Fund, we’re excited to partner with CSF to equip and send six students on this year’s Camp Team, multiplying their impact across our region.

10Two Project

10Two aims to raise 100 vocational church leaders across our region in the next five years by building and supporting a network of churches committed to calling, creating, and caring for leaders. Churches are encouraged to identify and invest in future leaders while caring well for those they have today. This year, our gift will go to support the care of pastors through small covenant groups and pastoral care.

Summer Scholarships

Each summer, Calvary sends kids and youth on life-changing trips where they are introduced to Jesus and encouraged to live out His example. To ensure these experiences are accessible to all, we offer scholarships to help defray costs, enabling more students to participate in these meaningful opportunities for spiritual growth.

College Scholarships

As we continue to raise up the next church leaders for the kingdom, we believe that supporting students who feel called to ministry and are attending a Bible college should be supported by the church that is sending them. We are excited to be supporting seven students currently and look to continue to grow this number over the next five years.

Unleash Compassion in our Community

1 Peter 3:8 reminds us that we are to be sympathetic, to love one another, to be compassionate and humble. As a church, when we take care of others, we are compassionate. This isn’t new to Calvary, or any other church. Each week there are many ways that we each find opportunities to show compassion. Jesus was compassionate, and our mission is to live and love as He did. We want to be even more strategic in our vision for showing compassion in our local area.

Mental Health Initiatives

Through our partnership with CityCare Counseling, Calvary’s counseling program remains a crucial resource for our community. Thanks to the generosity of the Impact Fund, we can provide up to four free counseling sessions to anyone seeking help.

In addition, we’ve partnered with the “Within Reach” church network to achieve their vision of training 1,000 church members in mental health, establishing 20 new “counseling hubs,” and developing 100 more licensed counselors over the next ten years.

The Clothing Closet

Through our continued partnership with Papillion La Vista Community Schools, we are providing a leased space near 72nd and Hwy. 370 for their Community Closet. This “store” is open daily and serves anyone in the area. Last year, they distributed thousands of clothing articles, diapers, hygiene products, and other essentials.

Bellevue Together

Bellevue Together is a nonprofit that supports local families through initiatives like providing school supplies, clothing, and holiday meals. They work closely with Bellevue Public Schools to identify needs and distribute resources. Calvary partners with Bellevue Together to help meet these needs and make a positive impact in the community.

Youth For Christ (YFC)

Youth for Christ (YFC) in Omaha works to connect with young people aged 11-19 during critical moments in their lives. Through programs like Campus Life, Parent Life, and Juvenile Justice Ministry, YFC builds relationships that introduce youth to Jesus and provide mentorship and support, particularly for students, teen parents, and those involved in the justice system. Their mission is to uncover God’s story of hope in each student’s life. Calvary partners with YFC to further this impactful work in the Omaha community, supporting their efforts to guide youth toward a Christ-centered life.

The Sarpy Care Center

The Sarpy Care Center, launched in 2021, provides practical, Christ-centered help to individuals and families in the community. It offers services such as a weekly food pantry, a diaper bank, and counseling resources. The center has also established strong partnerships with the local school systems to ensure easy access to essential resources. In 2025, it served over 700 households, distributed more then 113,000 lbs of food, and gave out 70,000+ diapers. As it grows, the Sarpy Care Center plays a crucial role in meeting the community’s needs by fostering connections and offering compassionate care.

Family First

Our Family First ministry will enable us to reach families with kids with the love of Christ while inviting them into a discipleship opportunity as a family. We will assist families with the resources and tools to learn about Jesus in their homes, while providing a variety of activities and learning opportunities throughout the year. This outreach ministry will look to impact numerous families in our community.

Sports Ministry

The Sports Ministry at Calvary exists to connect people to Christ through sports by fostering authentic relationships, encouraging spiritual growth, and promoting healthy competition. Our goal is to create a place where people can encounter God’s love, build lasting community, and live out their faith both in the game and in life. Various opportunities will be offered throughout the year for our community to be engaged in this ministry.

Get Involved

We hope you’ve seen ways that you can help us make an impact like never before here in our area and around the world! We can do this, but it will take something from everyone. We give generously to deepen our trust in God and to impact the lives of others – it’s one of the rhythms we commit to when we decide to follow Jesus! Would you join us as we give together to make this vision to impact our community a reality?

PRAY

Ask, “Lord, would you have me give sacrificially? Please show me how to give a gift that will stretch my faith and be obedient to Your will.” If you’re married, pray with your spouse. If you have kids, pray with your kids as well.

GIVE YOURSELF TIME

You’ll find that the longer you genuinely pray “Lord, show me how…”, the more ways God will show you how you can participate with Him. Earnestly seek and be attentive to His Leading.

Involve your family

Ask your family members to be thinking of ideas in advance. Be sure to involve your children, no matter how young they are. This is a great opportunity to teach Biblical giving, faith, and conversing with God through prayer. As a family, read through: 2 Corinthians 8:1-12.

WRESTLE WITH THESE QUESTIONS

In what ways could we decrease expenses in order to increase our gift? In what way could we increase our income in order to increase our gift?
